The song “Electricity” by Canal Pop was chosen among thousands of submissions as part of Face The Beat, released by Side Line, Belgium. Side Line was founded in 1989 and it’s the most important magazine/ portal in the electro/ industrial scene in the world. It is owned by the guys who run Alpha Matrix, the prestigious label that release material by bands like Front 242 or Nitzer Ebb.
Face The Beat contains 50 tracks that were chosen among 1258 submissions. The idea was to create a compilation for the almost 40 thousand Side Line fans on Facebook, and the chosen bands were the ones who had profiles in that social network. This is the first electronic music compilation (and probably the first one in any genre) to be released exclsusively using Facebook, which demonstrates Facebook’s value as a music platform.
